Our first recommendation is to come take a look at the venue! The best way to imagine your event is to get eyes-on our various elegant spaces to envision your event.
Additional estimates that are good starting points would be the number of anticipated guests, general idea of space requirements, audio/visual needs, thoughts on catering and drink service.

Who am I working with at the Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center?
You’re in good hands! The Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center is operated by Heritage Hospitality Management (HHM) right here in Cape Girardeau. HHM brings a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry to Buckner-Ragsdale. In addition to the venue, HHM operates the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Cape Girardeau and the Courtyard Marriott Downtown hotel in Cape Girardeau.
Since its opening in 2019, the Courtyard Marriott Downtown has consistently ranked amongst the top of all 1060 Courtyard Marriott hotels in North America. *Most notably, this hotel ranks 9 in guest Intent to Recommend, ranks 8 in Staff Service Level, and ranks 7 in Design and Décor.

At the Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center, we pride ourselves on the quality of the building and finishings. Each space has been fitted with cutting edge technology and professional grade finishings. Everything is top-of-the-line, from the kitchen equipment to the audio system. The wood finishings and floors are real wood. The brick walls are real brick walls. The greatest care and craftsmanship went into the restoration of this historic building. We can’t wait for you to see it!

This historic building has worn several hats over the years and has stood the test of time on the Mississippi riverfront in downtown Cape Girardeau making it an impressive locale within the community. The Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center is affiliated with two Marriott Family hotels in Cape Girardeau. Heritage Hospitality Management, our operating company, operates the Courtyard Marriott Downtown and the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Cape Girardeau. Who is the resident caterer, Top of the Marq?
Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center’s resident caterer is Cape Girardeau’s own Top of the Marq Rooftop Lounge. Top of the Marq is a Cape Girardeau staple, servicing the downtown area since 2019. As caterers, Top of the Marq’s unique approach to classic dishes and exceptional social plates provide classy and timeless flair to any event. Whether you’re looking for something to wow your guests or a dish more traditional, Top of the Marq has you covered. Pricing & Reservations
What does it cost?
The Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center provides a variety of pricing options based on the day of the week, usage of multiple spaces, and length of rental. Pricing can be found on the Booking Page.
What is required to reserve a date?
We require a 50% non-refundable deposit of the room fee to be paid at contract signing to reserve your date. The rest of the room fee will be due 90 days before your event.
When are the additional payments due?
All rentals and outside catering fee will be due 2 weeks before your event.
Event Day Logistics
How long is my rental? What time will I have access to the venue to decorate?
All rentals are full-day rentals. You will have access as early as needed until 12:30am. You will discuss a timeline with our venue manager to ensure a staff member is onsite to let you in.
Where do guests park?
All downtown parking is free, public parking. There are 2 large parking lots on the side, as well as street parking around the building. We have had events as large as 350 people and have not had any issues.
What size are your tables and how many guests do they hold?
In addition to cocktail tables, we have 48-inch and 60-inch rounds that hold 6 or 8 guests, respectively. We also have 6-foot rectangular tables that hold 3 guests per side.
Decor, Rentals & Outside Vendors
Can we leave decorations and other items at your facility to pick up the next day?
This may be an option depending on availability, and will have to be worked out with the venue manager in advance.
We are using a rental company. Can they drop items off or pick them up outside of the rental period?
This may be an option, and will have to be coordinated with our venue manager in advance.
Are any decorations prohibited?
Glitter and confetti are not permitted. Only battery-operated candles may be used. We also ask that if you choose to hang decorations, you use hanging options that will not damage the walls.
Can I bring in outside food or alcohol?
You must use Top of the Marq for any alcohol services. One of our approved caterers must provide any food, with the exception of desserts. No outside food or beverage is permitted.
